ETH Zurich scientists release new paper, marking new advances in the ICRC's "digital emblem" project.
Readers may know from a previous post that the ICRC is working to find out whether it’s possible to invent a “digital emblem” to help protect certain medical and humanitarian entities from being harmed by cyber operations in situations of armed conflict. Think of it like the Red Cross or Red Crescent, but instead of a visual marker that’s physically placed on, say, a hospital, it’s a digital tool that marks the digital assets of that same hospital. The ICRC is working with, amongst others, the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab and the Information Security Group at ETH Zurich. And just last week, the scientists at ETH Zurich published a paper that provides new details on their ideas for how a “digital emblem” might work!!
A story summarizing the paper is here and the full paper is here.
